2010 Season - Week 19

BUMS back 2 Bodeans Barbecue Bash

The BUMs willl be heading to Kansas City’s finest Smokepit (that is based in London) this Thursday when nine of us will be dining at Bodeans to talk of things Gridiron, and possibly a few other topics as well. Special guests include Current Champ’s cheerleader Jess (just there for the ribs) and 2001 & 2003 Runner-Up Paul Privitera recently relocated back to Blighty. Plans are to meet at Bodeans, Poland St. at 6:30pm and be warned Chief is on a diet, so baked potatoes and diet coke all round. And then there were four One step from the BUMSBowl and Aaron looks to become the alpha male in the Cooper household. After Ron’s Knox or Gronkowski failed to score in the second half of their contest Aarons 24-21 win gives him his first trip to the Championship round. He will face his dad as Chief swept aside Dave G 21-9 to make his 10th trip to the Championship in 15 years. In the previous nine he is 4-5. Johnnie came back from 18-0 down at half time to score 36 unanswered points in the third quarter and hold Cheryl off 36-25. Cheryl put up the second highest score of the weekend but goes out in the Divisional round for the sixth time. Johnnie will now play David S who beat Marcus with just 24 seconds left in the final game of the weekend when Deion Branch caught a Brady TD pass. That tied the score at 18 each so Stampy went through on the momentum tie-breaker. After a quarter of the final game they were tie at 12 each (all scored by their shared players) and so if neither Tomlinson or Branch had scored the game would have finished in a tie with no momentum tie-breaker. With this a real possibility the previous night the gathered BUMS agreed to the second tie-breaker rule which is rushing and receiving combined yardage by all four outfield players. Though not needed the first time this has been examined shows Marcus would have won 166 yards to 145. The best team of the weekend would have scored 66 points and cost $7.5m. QB Jay Cutler (18pts), K Mason Crosby (12pts), RB’s Rashard Mendenhall (12pts) & John Kuhn (12pts) and Receivers Deion Branch & TE Greg Olsen who scored a TD a piece. The most popular players in the Divisional Round were Tom Brady (QB on 5 of the 8 teams), Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff (4 teams) and Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson & receivers Anquan Boldin (Ravens), Greg Jennings (Packers) and Mike Wallace (Steelers) chosen by 3 owners. So Johnnie, Chief, Aaron & David S need to get their teams in by 10am Sunday please. First come first served etc. etc
